The Project Story
This Borehamwood project focused on upgrading both the rear elevation and internal living spaces, creating a more open, connected feel throughout the home. The aim was simple — bring in more natural light, improve access to the garden, and give the property a warmer, more premium finish.
The client wanted something that felt modern but not too stark, which is where the choice of colour and materials played a big role.
What We Had to Solve
One of the key challenges here was achieving that balance between openness and warmth. Large glazed areas can sometimes feel a bit cold visually, especially with darker frames, so the finish had to complement the overall look of the property.
We also needed to ensure consistency across different products — combining aluminium doors with uPVC windows without it looking mismatched.
Another important detail was maximising the usability of the rear space, making sure the doors didn’t just look good but also worked well day-to-day.
How We Delivered
We installed two three-panel aluminium bi-folding doors across the rear of the property, opening up the main living areas directly onto the garden. This creates a seamless transition between inside and outside, especially during warmer months.
To complement this, we fitted three uPVC casement windows, ensuring practical ventilation and natural light throughout other areas of the home.
Everything was finished in Rosewood (RAL 8017), internally and externally, giving the property a much warmer and more traditional feel compared to standard greys or blacks. This colour works particularly well with the surrounding materials and adds a more homely touch to the overall design.
The Final Result
The finished result feels noticeably brighter and more open, without losing that sense of warmth and comfort. The bi-folding doors completely transform how the main space interacts with the garden, while the matching windows keep everything consistent across the property.
It’s a great example of how the right combination of products and finishes can modernise a home without making it feel too clinical.
