Chislehurst Project

The Project Story

The Chislehurst project focused on upgrading the connection between the kitchen and the garden through a large, full-height patio door. The homeowners wanted to maximise natural light and views while keeping the space safe, secure, and energy efficient.

The brief was to create a wide glazed opening that would feel open and modern, without relying on multiple moving panels.

What We Had to Solve

Large sliding doors can easily compromise thermal performance and safety if not carefully configured. The main challenge was designing a full-height patio door that allowed generous glazing while limiting the number of opening sections.

The door also needed to work seamlessly within a modern kitchen layout, maintaining clean sightlines and a strong visual link to the garden.

How We Delivered

We installed a full-height sliding patio door system made up of three sections. Two panels were fixed to maximise insulation, stability, and safety, while a single sliding panel provides controlled access to the garden.

This configuration delivers the visual impact of a wide glazed opening while reducing heat loss and limiting unnecessary moving parts. The slim framing allows natural light to flow into the kitchen throughout the day.

The Final Result

The completed installation transforms the kitchen into a bright, open space with a strong indoor-outdoor connection. The predominantly fixed design improves energy performance and enhances safety, while the single sliding panel offers practical everyday access.

The result is a refined, modern solution that balances design, comfort, and performance — perfectly suited to contemporary family living.
