St Albans Second Project

Materials & Systems Installed

  • 2 x Aluminium bi-folding doors installed (three panels)

Finished in Anthracite Grey RAL 7061

The Project Story

This St Albans project was more focused and straightforward, but still made a big difference to how the space is used day to day. The aim was to open up the rear of the property and create a better connection between the inside and the patio area.

The existing setup felt a bit restricted, especially when it came to natural light and access. The client wanted something cleaner, wider, and more practical — without overcomplicating the design.

What We Had to Solve

The main challenge here was working within the existing openings while still achieving that “open space” feel. It’s not always about knocking walls down — sometimes it’s about making smarter use of what’s already there.

We also needed to make sure both door sets worked well together visually, as they sit along the same elevation. If the proportions or alignment were off, it would have been noticeable straight away.

How We Delivered

We installed two aluminium bi-folding door sets, each with a three-panel configuration. This setup gives a good balance between wide openings and everyday practicality.

The frames were finished in Anthracite Grey (RAL 7016), which works really well against the brickwork and ties in with the rest of the property. It’s a popular choice for a reason — clean, modern, and not too harsh.

Everything was carefully aligned during installation so both sets sit evenly and operate smoothly, creating a consistent look across the rear of the house.

The Final Result

The end result is simple but effective. The space now feels more open, with much better access to the garden and a noticeable increase in natural light.

When both sets are opened up, the transition between inside and outside feels almost seamless, which is exactly what the client was aiming for.

It’s a great example of how even a relatively straightforward installation, when done properly, can completely change how a space feels and functions.
