Chalfont St Peter Project
The Project Story
This Chalfont St Peter project was completed for a family home, with a focus on creating a stronger connection between the living space and the garden while keeping the design practical for everyday life. Alongside improving natural light and access, the glazing needed to work for a busy household — including the family cat.
The brief combined style, comfort, and small thoughtful details that make a real difference in a lived-in home.
The solution needed to feel authentic from the street but modern and reliable for everyday living.
What We Had to Solve
The main challenge was introducing bold, heritage-inspired glazing without losing the warmth of a family environment. The garden doors needed to make a visual impact, while still feeling welcoming and functional.
At the same time, the kitchen window and roof skylights had to work together to brighten the space naturally. A further consideration was allowing easy outdoor access for the family cat without disrupting the clean design of the doors.
How We Delivered
We installed heritage-style French doors with slim, dark frames, carefully proportioned to suit the brick façade and garden elevation. A discreet pet door was integrated into the lower section of the glazing, allowing the cat easy access to the garden while keeping the overall appearance neat and unobtrusive.
A matching heritage-style kitchen window was fitted to maintain visual consistency, and roof skylights were added above to bring daylight deeper into the room. All elements were designed to work together as one cohesive glazing solution.
The Final Result
The completed space feels open, bright, and well balanced — perfectly suited to family living. The French doors create a natural flow to the garden, the kitchen benefits from improved daylight, and the skylights add an extra layer of brightness throughout the day.
Small details, such as the integrated cat door, ensure the home works just as well in practice as it does visually, resulting in a glazing solution that feels both considered and genuinely lived in.
