Hanwell Ealing Project

The Project Story

This Hanwell, Ealing project focused on upgrading the windows of a traditional London terrace while preserving its period character. The living room features a bay window, and the client wanted this to be designed with sash-style windows to stay true to the original look of the property.

For the upper floor, matching sash windows were also required to maintain consistency across the façade.

What We Had to Solve

The main challenge was designing a bay window that incorporated sash-style windows while keeping correct proportions and alignment. Each section of the bay needed to work both visually and practically, without disrupting the rhythm of the front elevation.

At the same time, the sash windows on the upper floor had to align with the bay below and neighbouring properties, ensuring the house retained its traditional appearance.

How We Delivered

We installed a bay window to the living room using sash-style windows, carefully designed to suit the shape of the bay and the architectural details of the property. The sash design preserves the classic vertical proportions while allowing the bay to remain a strong visual feature.

Matching sash windows were fitted on the upper floor, with consistent frame profiles and finishes to tie the entire elevation together. Modern glazing and hardware were integrated discreetly to improve comfort and usability.

The Final Result

The finished project enhances the character of the home while significantly improving performance. The sash-style bay window brings light and presence to the living room, while the upper-floor sash windows maintain a balanced, period-correct appearance.

From the street, the house retains its traditional charm. Inside, the homeowners enjoy better insulation, smoother operation, and a brighter living space — a respectful upgrade that feels entirely in keeping with the original building.
