Wandsworth Project

The Project Story

This Wandsworth project focused on creating a wide, light-filled opening to the garden while keeping energy efficiency a priority. The homeowners wanted a large patio door that would visually open up the space, but without unnecessary heat loss from multiple opening panels.

The brief was simple: maximise glass, minimise moving parts, and keep the design clean and practical for everyday use.

What We Had to Solve

Large patio openings often come with a trade-off between openness and energy performance. Too many sliding or opening panels can reduce thermal efficiency and increase long-term heat loss.

The challenge was to design a wide glazed door that provided garden access while ensuring most of the structure remained fixed and well insulated.

How We Delivered

We installed a three-panel patio door system, carefully configured to suit the client’s priorities. Two of the panels were fixed, allowing for large uninterrupted glass areas and improved thermal performance. A single opening panel provides easy access to the garden without compromising the overall efficiency of the system.

This layout delivers the visual impact of a wide opening while keeping the structure stable, secure, and energy conscious.

The Final Result

The finished patio door floods the interior with natural light and creates a strong visual connection to the garden. From inside, the space feels open and spacious, while the predominantly fixed design helps retain warmth and reduce energy usage.

The result is a well-balanced solution that combines modern living, clean design, and practical performance — exactly suited to the needs of the home.
